“Oh, nothin’. Just the end of the world.”

So, yeah. Lots to unpack here obviously.

But in short, pretty damn into it! HBO has kept pretty tight-lipped about Damon Lindelof’s The Leftovers follow up, but this at least indicates he’s got some big-ass ideas for his adaptation of the seminal work.

Like … Rorschach inspiring a violent hate-mob (that is surely racist as fuck)? Into it. Our first solid look at Regina King’s costumed persona? Yes, PLEASE. Tim Blake Nelson?! I mean, have you SEEN Buster Scruggs?! Jeepers creepers. We also get quick looks at a brand new mirror-masked villain and a straight up Tales of the Black Freighter joke.

I mean, I know better than most that it is gouache to like the random Watchmen spin-offs, but this looks just too interesting to ignore. Better still, it looks like it actually has something to SAY. Not just another one-to-one translation of the book. That alone is making me want to tune in.
