So, um, *heavy sigh*, we gotta talk, Speedsters.
Last week, the internet kind of exploded when a report surfaced that, in an effort to secure a script for the long in development Flash solo movie, that HE HIMSELF would write it.
But, then the report got even weirder, revealing that Grant Morrison, that’s right, would be co-writing.
Then, and perhaps most damming of all, that Miller was aiming for a “darker take” on the Scarlet Speedster.
Obviously, there’s a lot to unpack here. Let’s take it point by point. To be totally honest, I don’t think this solo Flash movie is ever going to happen, but I appreciate Miller’s…persistence? I guess? That seems like the right word.
And to recruit Grant Freaking Morrison as your co-writer. I mean. Can you imagine? A Flash movie with the man who breathes Multiverses behind the keyboard. The mind boggles.
But in truth, the “darker take” thing worries me. I mean, when I think of The Flash I think of this.
Nothing about that screams for a “darker take.” Plus, if you are bringing Morrison on board, don’t waste his time with grim ‘n gritty. Give him Speed Force antics, vibration science, and big, mythic villains. You know, the stuff that really makes The Flash sing.
I dunno, that’s just me, one lowly reporter and Flash fan’s opinion. But what do y’all think? Do you even want an Ezra Flash movie? Do you prefer the Grant Gustin variety? Also, who is your favorite Flash Rogue and why is it The Trickster? Let us know in the comments below.
