Oh, Penny Dreadful. You were too good for this world. Despite having the star power of one Clem Fandango and rocking one of the best modern interpretations of Frankenstein and The Creature, you were cancelled after three glorious seasons. But, hark! The Dark Ones saw fit to bring us a sequel series! One set in L.A. no less!
Yes, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels is still very much on its way, once again being shepherded by series creator John Logan, and it has been steadily gaining cast members since its reveal. But today it was announced that the show would be getting that Tyrell Boost by the casting of one actual angel, Natalie Dormer, as reported by Deadline and the Hollywood Reporter. Dormer will join the already-announced cast as Magda, a demon with the ability to shapeshift. So, I assume you can expect more sexy duplicity from Dormer!
I won’t lie, the idea of a new Penny Dreadful set in the 1930’s doesn’t exactly light my world on fire, but, then again, I didn’t expect to love the original series as much as I did, so who really knows?! Plus, I would watch and listen in rapture to Dormer reading the phone book and PAY for the pleasure, so at least this sequel series has that going for it.
What do you think of this casting? Are you excited at all for this new series? Let us know! We want to hear from you, creeps.
