SONY’S ‘MORBIUS, THE LIVING VAMPIRE’ FILM RAMPS UP PRODUCTION

Read Time:1 Minute, 24 Second

Whether we like it or not Jared Leto is going to be a thing. As will Sony’s weird “Webbed World of Spider-Man” universe of movies. Following the inexplicable success of VenomΒ is Morbius, which just wrapped its first week of filming.

While the tease above isn’t bad, Deadline then doubled down on the news. Reporting that one Jared Harris, of Mad Men fame, would be joining Leto’s Dr. Michael Morbius in an unspecified role. Then, even more news! Variety reported not a few days later that Tyrese Gibson was circling a role in the Daniel Espinosa directed feature!

So now we have:

-Jared Leto

-Matt Smith (who was cast alongside Leto)

-Jared Harris

-and Tyrese

in a goddamn Morbius, The Living Vampire movie. Roy Thomas must be THRILLED.

But in all seriousness, I don’t know what to make of these Sony Spider Spin-Off things. Venom was so bizarre and I truly love the character of Morbius! As probably anyone else who watched the 90’s Spider-Man cartoon on FOX can attest. But, like, where does this all lead? Does it lead anywhere? Are these just weird R-rated outliers, gifted with nutty performances or are we building to some kind of big-budget Midnight Sons movie which finds Leto’s Morbius teaming with Hardy’s Venom and maybe (fingers crossed) Wyatt Russell’s Johnny Blaze as Sony’s rebooted Ghost Rider? Maybe against like a Sam Rockwell type for Blackheart? Or, hell, do it big! Shuma-Gorath! We have until July 31st, 2020 to speculate.

This might have just become my own personal fan-fic, but let us know what YOU think in the comments below.
